Lace Pillows
A Lace pillow is the surface on which the bobbin lace is made. Pins are pushed into the pillow as you progress with the bobbin lace therefore the material from which the pillow is made should be sturdy enough to hold the pins in an upright position without wobbling as the thread is tensioned..
Traditionally Lace Pillows were stuffed with straw, but most modern pillow use polystyrene.Â
Common types of lace pillow include:-
Cookie Pillow
A cookie pillow is a round domed pillow generally used for smaller pieces of lace.
Block Pillow
A block pillow is a square pillow formed from a number of individual blocks that can be arranged as required. The blocks can also be re-arranged during the creation of a larger piece by so providing additional space to continue working the design without disturbing the existing pins.
Roller Pillow
A roller pillow is a cylindrical pillow sometimes placed in a flat base. This allows for longer pieces of lace to be created as the pillow is rotated to provide additional space to continue working the design.
